Dr. Saheli Kumar is a PhD in Geography from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Her research primarily focuses on women’s empowerment, gender studies, rural development, and social geography. Her doctoral research examined the role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in enhancing women’s empowerment in Hooghly district, West Bengal. She has contributed to research on rural livelihoods and well-being through her association with an ICSSR-sponsored project on crop insurance and climate-induced income shocks. Her academic interests include applied geography, regional planning, gender-based development issues, and socio-economic transformation in rural areas. She has published research articles in the areas of gender, rural development, and applied geography.
