Ingrid has a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Although she was born and raised in a metropolitan area, she became curious about rural health due to having parents and grandparents raised in the rural Midwestern U.S. She began her research career at the University of Minnesota Rural Health Research Center investigating all things rural health, and now directs research at the Rural Cancer Institute. She is particularly passionate about closing the rural cancer gap because she is the daughter of a two-time childhood cancer survivor.
