Shixiong Cao is a retired Professor at the Minzu University of China. He was born in Yanchuan County of China's Shaanxi Province in February 1965. His research has focused on Institutional Economics, Ecological Restoration, Ecological Economics, Development Economics, and Environmental Policy, and he has published more than 160 papers and a book named A New Stage of Civilization: Striving for the Great Harmony. He won the global Science and Practice in Ecology & Society Award in 2014. He has been one of the most highly cited scholars and top scientists in the world since 2018.
